Stone Mansion was the home of Robert G. Woodside (1876-1964), a decorated war veteran, attorney, member of the American Battle Monuments Commission, founder of the VFW, and Allegheny County Sheriff and Controller. He was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Eisenhower in 1954.
