The stone foundation and cemetery here mark the site of Prince William County's second Presbyterian Church, dedicated in 1855 on land donated by Oliver Chamberlin, who with Thomas Clarke and Abram Walden became the church's first trustees. The structure burned during the Civil War while Thomas Clarke was serving in the 2nd Regiment, District of Columbia Volunteers. The tombstone for Thomas Clarke and his wife, Mary, survives in the cemetery, but many graves there, including some of Civil War soldiers, are unmarked. Mary Clarke, Oliver Chamberlin's half-sister, is recognized as a Real Daughter of the American Revolution, and her father, Wright Chamberlin, was a Revolutionary War patriot whose ancestors arrived in the Massachusetts Colony prior to 1637.
