Lake Wateree State Park is a South Carolina state park on Desportes Island in Lake Wateree near Ridgeway, about 17 miles from Winnsboro. Acquired by the state in 1984, the 238-acre park focuses on lake access and camping, with 100 campsites divided between the original Riverside campground and the newer Taylor Creek section added in 2020. Its facilities include picnic areas, a two-mile nature trail, a playground, a soccer field, disc golf, and lakeside swings. A tackle shop supports boating and fishing with refueling, kayak rentals, and a free loaner program. Wildlife, freshwater fishing, guided hikes, and annual seasonal events make it a popular recreation base on the lake.
