Mount Lewis is the highest peak in Nevada’s Shoshone Range, located about fourteen miles southeast of Battle Mountain. It is the most topographically prominent summit in Lander County and ranks twentieth in prominence statewide, giving it notable geographic importance. Just west of the summit stands a Federal Aviation Administration Long Range Air Route Surveillance Radar station, a distinctive modern feature on an otherwise open mountain landscape. The mountain lies on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and access is unrestricted.
