Halliburton Incorporated, founded on July 1, 1924, and Duncan served each other for 80 years as the company led the industry worldwide. A Halliburton rig erected in 1972 trained Russian engineers and was later used to test tools for Halliburton schools. After its removal from Halliburton Plant 2 in February 1996, it was donated to the City of Duncan. In February 1999, the Eagle Scouts of Troop 434 and the City of Duncan completed its installation in Fuqua Park, where it stands as a reminder of the important place oil has played in Duncan's legacy.
