W.H. Stark House
Arts & Culture
This ornate Queen Anne style residence, built in 1893-94 for William Henry Stark and Miriam (Lutcher) Stark, features Eastlake detailing on its porches and gables. Stark was a financial and industrial pioneer who headed several lumber and petroleum companies. His son H.J. Lutcher Stark became noted for cultural and educational philanthropies, and both men served as regents of the University of Texas. The Nelda C and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation restored the house, which was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
