The City of Brenham was established in 1844 and named in honor of Dr. Richard Fox Brenham, 1810 - 1843, a surgeon in the Army of the Republic of Texas, a member of the Mier Expedition, and one who was killed at Salado, Mexico, February 11, 1843.
