William Kermit "Bill" Jobko, a Bridgeport High School Class of 1953 graduate, was a three-year, three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. At Ohio State University, he was a member of the national championship teams of 1954 and 1957, played two-way as an offensive guard and linebacker, and was the university's 1957 Most Valuable Player. He was the only player in Big 10 history ever to lose a Big 10 regular season game. Bill recorded a safety as the college all-stars defeated the NFL champion Detroit Lions 35-19, one of eight times the college all-stars won this game. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams, he played for them from 1958 until 1963, then was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, for whom he played from 1963 to 1965. He was an original Atlanta Falcon in 1966 and served as team captain. From 1967 to 1989, Bill served the Atlanta Falcons as a coach, scout, and director of pro player personnel. In 1989, Bill became chief college scout for the Phoenix Cardinals until his retirement in 1994.
