Severna Park honors four local service members who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom: United States Army Private First Class Eric Matthew Kavanagh, whose service ended when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Sadr City, Iraq, at age 20; United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Eric William Herzberg, whose service ended while conducting combat operations in Anbar Province, Iraq, at age 20; United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal William Taylor Wild IV, whose service ended while training for his third deployment at Hawthorne Army Depot, Nevada, at age 21; and United States Air Force Airman First Class Nathaniel Henry McDavitt, whose service ended when a building collapsed while defending freedom in Jordan, at age 22.
