Roscoe Cemetery began when W.J. Turner, one of the first settlers in Roscoe, then called Vista, purchased the site about 1887 for the burial of his brother-in-law, Joe Cleckler. The next interments were the infant Frank E. Spires in 1892 and Ethel Lena Turner in 1894. Other early graves are unidentified.
