On October 14, 2010, grateful Americans dedicated this monumental bridge in memory of Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman, honoring men of heroic spirit who overcame adversity throughout their lives, helped people along the way, and inspired those yet to come. Donal Neil "Mike" O'Callaghan, who lived from 1929 to 2004, served as a sergeant in the I.S.M.C., a corporal in the U.S.A.F., and Governor of Nevada; he was a devoted family man who honored God and country in lifelong public service and worked with high standards of conduct, respect, and diligence to improve life for ordinary people. Patrick Daniel "Pat" Tillman, who lived from 1976 to 2004, was a football athlete associated with number 42 at A.S.U. and number 40 with the A.Z. Cardinals, and a corporal in the U.S.A.; he was a loved son, brother, husband, and loyal friend who was willing to sacrifice fame, fortune, and his own life for his ideals, and his family, friends, fans, and nation lost him in military service to his country and his brothers-in-arms.
