The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. was established on February 18, 1935, when fifteen charter members met to form the organization. At first, the women prepared food in their homes to serve firemen at fire scenes, and in 1942 closet space in the original firehouse became the first Emergency Kitchen. With a new firehouse and later renovations, they continued to work diligently in support of the department. Their early fundraising included card parties and support for the firemen's carnivals through car raffles, money wheels, and cake booths, while catering banquets and wedding receptions and serving refreshments at various functions became their main source of income. Since 1935, the organization has given the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. more than $370,000. Over the years, it also actively supported the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters' Association, and four of its presidents later became state presidents of that organization: Mrs. Eunice Tull in 1944-1945, Mrs. Maud Spicer in 1947-1948, Mrs. Jean Marvel in 1986-1987, and Mrs. Debbie Marvel in 2007-2008.
