The memorial honors the men of Bradley County who gave their lives in the service of their country during World War I: Frank Barnes, Calvin C. Climer, Robert Daughtery, Fred Farmer, Ollie Goins, James Haney, Carter Hicks, John F. Keys, Oscar Kibble, Peter Lingerfelt, Have Mitchell, Thomas Moore, Thomas O. Roy, Harry Atlee Seymour, Edward Taylor, Charles Tatum, Jacob Visage, Calvin Wheeler, and Joyce Winkler. It also includes Woodrow Wilson’s 1918 tribute: “These gallant men of the armed forces have fought for the ideals which they knew to be the ideals of their country.”
