At the Battle of Droop Mountain, identified Federal soldiers came from the 2nd, 3rd, and 8th West Virginia Mounted Infantry, the 10th West Virginia Infantry, the 28th Ohio Infantry, and the 1st West Virginia Light Artillery, Battery B, while identified Confederate soldiers came from the 14th, 19th, and 20th Virginia Cavalry, the 22nd Virginia Infantry, and the 23rd Battalion Virginia Infantry.
