Rucker Canyon is a major canyon in the west-central southern Chiricahua Mountains of far southeastern Arizona, draining west toward the Sulphur Springs Valley through Rucker Creek, or Rucker Wash. Historically it is best known as the site of Camp Rucker. Near an important local drainage divide, its waters connect mountain headwaters with broader desert drainage extending toward Whitewater Draw, the Swisshelm Mountains, and ultimately either the Willcox Playa or the Douglas-Mexico area. Higher in the canyon, Rucker Creek was known for trout, but the landscape has changed: a small lake near the headwaters was buried by sediment, and post-fire runoff after the 1994 Rattlesnake Fire reshaped lower channels.
