Robert Douglas became the first white man to farm this land in 1839. It was known as the Webb Farm for 60 years. The Plaffs purchased it in 1962, and their children, Tom A. and Sarah Pfaff-Clements, and six grandchildren continue to operate it as a family farm with dairy, hogs, and beef cattle. This fertile farm also holds three Native American burial grounds. The farm is located south of Melrose on Highway 108 in Jackson County.
