Built by C. Donald Fisher in 1969, Fisher Pond is a 1.8 acre spring-fed farm pond that gently slopes to a maximum depth of 8.5 feet. It was designed to provide habitat for wetland plants and animal species using a wide array of food sources. The pond and wetland environment supports wildlife including songbirds, waterfowl, wading birds, bass, sunfish, blue gills, frogs, toads, and turtles. In a pond that is not maintained, plants decompose, soils build up, and the pond gets shallower until it becomes a marsh. As plants grow, die, and decompose, trees begin to grow and the marsh becomes a swamp, and an example of a swamp can be seen on adjacent private property.
