The Taube Museum of Art in downtown Minot, North Dakota, grew from an organization founded in 1970 that first operated from the Linha home on U.S. 83 and later from the Ward County Historical Society at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Formerly called the Minot Art Gallery, it was renamed for Lillian and Coleman Taube. In 1977 it bought its permanent home, a former bank building at 2 North Main Street built in 1923 after fire destroyed the previous structure. Once the Union National Bank Building, it now houses galleries and a gift shop and remains part of Minot’s downtown cultural life.
