Farm Island Recreation Area is a state recreation area in Hughes County, South Dakota, on the Missouri River just downstream from Pierre. It takes its name from Farm Island, once a separate island in the river and now joined to the mainland by a causeway. The area serves as a major base for outdoor recreation on and around the water, offering camping, hiking, fishing, and boating. Its location near the state capital has made it a popular destination for water-based recreation in central South Dakota.
