During the Vietnam crisis, from December 22, 1961 thru May 7, 1975, the Type Aircraft F4D Model was used extensively and was considered very instrumental in bringing the conflict to an end. Manufactured by McDonnell Douglas Co., it was an all-weather fighter bomber or interceptor capable of delivering combinations of missiles, bombs, and rockets, and it was operated by two men, a pilot and a radar observer. The aircraft had a wingspan of 38 ft. 4.9 in, an overall length of 63 ft., a ground length of 16 ft. 5 in., a published airspeed of Mach 2.1, approximately 1,480 mph, and two Pratt and Whitney J79's. It was dedicated for all POW's and MIA's through all wars and conflicts of the United States of America.
