Two neighborhood brothers, CPL James Marinelli, age 22, of the US Army, and PFC Dominic Marinelli, age 19, of the US Marine Corps, lost their lives in World War II. James Marinelli was killed in action on October 8, 1944, in northern Italy, and Dominic Marinelli was killed in action on April 14, 1945, on the island of Okinawa. The park is named in their memory and honors all who gave their lives in defense of the country.
