At the intersection of South Street and Madison Avenue, a westward view showed many forms of transportation together, including walking, bicycles, cars, tracks from a former trolley, and hitching posts for horses and buggies on the north side of the street. In the early 1900s, the Allen County Courthouse had four clocks at the top in its bell tower. One of those clocks remains, and the bell is on display across the street on the courthouse lawn.
