The M4 "Sherman" was a medium tank, specifically an M4A1(76)W HVSS, armed with a 76 mm main gun capable of penetrating 4 inches of armor at 1,000 yards. It had a crew of 5, weighed 35 tons, and could reach a speed of 24 mph. It was manufactured by Lima Locomotive Works, Specific Car and Foundry, and Pressed Steel Car Co. More than 40,000 M4 "Sherman" tanks were produced from 1941 to 1945.
