During World War II, people of Japanese ancestry, including both nationals and U.S. citizens, were arbitrarily and without justification incarcerated in a concentration camp at this location because of circumstances beyond their control and the consequences of war between the United States and Japan. The site includes an original foundation of a two-family cottage and stands as a reminder that the injustices and humiliations suffered here as a result of hysteria, racism, and discrimination should never happen again.
