Founded in 1851 from many claims, the Keystone Mine became one of the most profitable and longest running mines. It joined with the South Spring Hill Mine and worked until 1942, while its east shaft operated until 1952. The mine reached a depth of 2680 feet, employed 100 men, and produced $24,000,000 in gold.
