Built in 1639-1640 for the Reverend Henry Whitfield, an English minister who sailed from London to New England with a company of other Guilford founders, all of them Puritan sympathizers, the "Old Stone House" is the oldest house in Connecticut and is maintained as a state museum open to the public.
