This building retains traces of its original appearance from when it was an important part of downtown Osage, including yellow brick, pieces of a cloth awning, and hardware that held an Art Deco sign in the 30s and 40s. The Spot was a place where citizens of various ethnic heritages and races played pool and drank together, even though segregation would have been enforced in nearby Morgantown just two miles away. The building to the left was one of two movie theatres on this street, and Patty Thomas recalled watching a movie there when a loud bang came from upstairs. The audience finished the movie, but by the end they felt sleepy and staggered outside because a gas leak had been filling the theatre; fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.
