Silver Peak is an 11,878-foot mountain in eastern Fresno County, California, in the Sierra Nevada within the John Muir Wilderness and Sierra National Forest. Standing on the Silver Divide, it is notable less for statewide height than for its dramatic local relief, with an east face rising nearly 2,300 feet above Beetlebug Lake in about a mile. Its place on the Sierra Peaks Section list has made it a climbing destination, though its first recorded ascent came before 1937 by an unknown party. Named in connection with nearby Silver Creek by Theodore Solomons, it is the highest of California’s 10 officially named Silver Peaks and drains into the San Joaquin River watershed.
