John K. Darkes was born July 27th 1831, enlisted in Co. A, 93 Regt. P.V. in 1861, reenlisted in Co. B. 10 Regt. P.V.V., lost his left leg in the battle of Weldon Rail Road from a cannon ball in 1864, and died Feb. 15th 1875 at age 43 years 6 mo. and 19 days.
