Conway’s United States Post Office, built in 1935 and 1936, was the city’s first federal post office and became an important civic landmark. Designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department under Louis A. Simon, it is a one-story brick Classical Revival building distinguished by an off-center entrance with a large fanlight. After a new post office replaced it in 1977, the building was renovated and reopened in 1981 as the Horry County Museum, which remained there until 2014. By April 2017, it housed the Conway Visitors Center and Conway Downtown Alive offices. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
