History
2
Built by Daniel Hoffman in 1852, the Hoffman Hotel provided lodging for visitors to town and court sessions and for male students of the original Gaston College. A jury was sequestered on the third floor, known as the "Bull Pen." Jonas Hoffman was the second proprietor, and the structure was later used as a private residence until it was purchased for a museum.
