Blacksmith Shop & Cemetery
Industry
6
Not much is known about this building, but a A.U.S. government book prepared during the Depression identified it as the oldest standing frame blacksmith shop in the U.S. Opposite the shop is one of the oldest cemeteries in the area, where several veterans of the American Revolutionary War are buried. At one time, next to the blacksmith shop, stood the first Methodist Church, built in 1832 and remodeled in 1872. Near this site there was also an old pottery or glasshouse.
