Cozy Dell Canyon is a canyon in Ventura County’s Topatopa Mountains, in Los Padres National Forest near Meiners Oaks and the Ojai Valley. About 5 kilometers, or 3.1 miles, long, it extends southwest from below Nordhoff Ridge to the Ventura River, with California State Route 33 crossing near its mouth. The canyon is the type locality for the Cozy Dell Shale, a name first applied in 1928 by Kerr and Schenck. It is also valued for its creek beds, rock formations, wildflowers, broad mountain and valley views, and its role as a wildlife corridor supporting diverse native species, including mountain lions, bobcats, mule deer, and California condors.
