Cast in 1817 by Revere and Sons in Boston, Massachusetts, the bell hung from 1817 to 1824 in the steeple of 2nd Congressional Church in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and from 1825 to 1886 in Old North Congregational Church in Marblehead. In 1886, J.J.H. Gregory purchased it and sent it to Pleasant Hill Academy, where it hung from 1886 to 1918 in the belfry of the academy’s first building. In 1922, after Dodge Hall had burned, the broken bell was placed on its site. In 1959, it was hung in the bell tower of Pleasant Hill Community Church, United Church of Christ. In 2011, it was given to the Pleasant Hill Historical Society of the Cumberlands and moved to Pioneer Hall Museum.
