Lawndale Railroad Water Tank

From 1899 to 1943, the Lawndale Railroad Water Tank supplied water for the Lawndale Railroad, Lawndale Junction, and Dover Mill. From 1943 to 1993, it supplied water for the Boiler House at Cleveland Mills in Lawndale, N.C. From 1993 to 2011, it stood idle at Cleveland Mills. On 9-14-2011, it was moved to Metcalfe Station. Restoration work was carried out by Max Lail, Carl Spangler Jr., and others, roofing work by Emanuel Shell Roofing Co., and it was donated to Lawndale Historical Society by Loyd B. (Kip) Smith and Joe Morgan.
