The National Forest Inn consisted of neat white clapboard buildings, including one built on stilts to compensate for the steep landscape. A U.S. Forest Service station here served a ranger whose duty was to patrol the area surrounding the Ridge Route. In the early 1920s, the resort was one of the most popular places on the Ridge, frequented by young people from the Newhall and Castaic area who danced here until all hours of the night.
