Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp and his wife, Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp, lived in Earp Cottage in Vidal, California, from 1925 to 1928 during the fall, winter, and spring months while he worked his Happy Days mines in the Whipple Mountains a few miles north of the site. The legendary lawman, gun-fighter, gambler, businessman, and miner regarded it as a dream-come-true cottage, and it was the only permanent residence the couple owned in their long lives together. Their ashes are buried in the Hills of Eternity Memorial Park in Colma, California.
