William D. Morgan, a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and a 1966 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, was awarded the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life in the Republic of Vietnam on February 25, 1969, and he gave his life for his country. It also pays tribute to the men and women who served their country in Vietnam and especially remembers the eleven men from Mt. Lebanon who died there: Lt. Thomas Arnold Bird, Jr. (USMC), Col. William Clare Coltman (USAF), Cpl. Christopher L. Dellapina (USA), SP4 David Stearns Easton (USA), SP6 Richard Joseph Lacey (USA), Cpl. William David Morgan (USMC), Lt. JG. David Lamprey Nicholas (USN), Lt. Col. Robert Pietsch (USAF), Lt. David Mathew Thompson (USN), Cpt. Harold Raymond Vogel (USAF), and SP4 Gary Eugene Whipple (USA). It is a memorial honoring all American veterans.
