Hurricana Stock Farm was created in 1880 by Stephen Sanford, gentleman, industrialist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. The farm boasted winners in nearly every stakes race at nearby Saratoga, as well as the 1916 Kentucky Derby and the 1923 English Grand National Steeplechase.
