Harmony Headlands State Park preserves 748 acres of undeveloped Pacific shoreline in San Luis Obispo County and provides the only public coastal access between Cayucos and Harmony. Part of Rancho San Geronimo, an 1842 Mexican land grant, the property later passed through private ownership, including the Storni family, who operated a dairy farm there until the mid-1960s. After a 1975 attempt to subdivide the ranch for homes failed, the American Land Conservancy bought the land in 2003 and transferred it to California State Parks, establishing the park. Delays postponed public opening until November 2008, with the Cayucos Land Conservancy helping secure development and access.
