Perry County, created in 1840, erected its first court house in 1841 in what is known as the Old Town of Perryville. That building burned in 1850. In 1871, a court house was built at the present location in the New Town of Perryville, but it burned in 1874. It was rebuilt and burned again in 1880. The present building was erected in 1888.
