St. Patrick's Chapel
Faith
8
Built in 1819 by Irish immigrants who lived along the Susquehanna River, dug the canals, and piloted the canal barges, this chapel is the second oldest Catholic church in Cecil County. At a time when Catholics were not allowed to build churches in Ireland, it stood as a testimonial to religious freedom, a right guaranteed in the US by the Bill of Rights.
