Ventnor City honors all men and women of all wars, especially those who made the supreme sacrifice. The city dedicated this veterans memorial as a tribute to forever perpetuate the names of its citizens who, when called by the nation, gave their lives. Those named are World War II dead PFC Albert B. Bowes, Army; T/5 George D. Durkin, Army; 2nd Lt. Joseph L. Durkin, Army; Pvt. Walter E. Harbison, Army; T/5 Thomas S. Keffer, Jr., Army; 2nd Lt. Leonard C. McCully, Army; 2nd Lt. David Rogers, Army; Capt. Harry P. Singley, Army; and Capt. Harvey M. Wagner, Army, and Vietnam dead PFC Joseph B. Oliphant, Jr., Army. The memorial was dedicated on November 11, 1995 by Mayor Ted Bergman, Commissioner Bea Kershenblatt, and Commissioner Tim Kreischer.
