About 1200 feet northeast of this point stood the pioneer log cabin of Samuel White. There on September 22, 1862, Samuel and his wife Laura, and two children, Susan and Otis, were brutally murdered by a small party of Sioux Indians during the outbreak. The bodies were subsequently interred at Glencoe.
