The first Frederick schoolhouse was built in 1883. The main building was built in 1922 with a four year curriculum. The original bell of Frederick school was purchased with money raised by student entertainment in April 1888. Park benefactors included John C. Simmons, Glenn Jeffers, Brooke Howell, Paul J. Silberberger, Alpha Circle, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Norman Glarum. The monument and plaques were built by John G. Peterson and dedicated in 1964.
