Built about 1730 by Gulian Ver Planck, Mount Gulian stood on land adjacent to property purchased from the Wappinger Indians in 1685 by his ancestors and Francis Rombout. It served as the headquarters of Baron Von Steuben, and the Society of the Cincinnati was instituted here in May 1783.
