The Trott Hotel was built in 1866 by Samuel Trott and was one of the first hotels in Rocklin. It burned down in Nov. 1869 with the loss of one life and was rebuilt that same year. The south portion was torn down in 1965 in order to widen Rocklin Road. Over time, the building served as a hotel, post office, barber shop, general merchandise store, newspaper office, and grocery store.
