Port Vue Borough, Pennsylvania, honored its residents who answered their country’s call in wartime, beginning with the brave boys who served in the World War from 1917 to 1919 and extending through World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, the Persian Gulf, Desert Shield, the War on Terrorism, and related periods of military service. The honor roll records hundreds of names from the community, including some identified as killed in action and others marked with stars, and it also includes women serving as nurses or in the WAC. Alongside these names appear patriotic words from Woodrow Wilson in 1917, the saying “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away” attributed to General Douglas MacArthur, and a concluding date of 2015.
