Sienna Botanica is a man made natural biofiltration riverine system that handles urban run-off throughout Ladera Ranch. It uses plants and soil to filtrate the run-off and various interceptors to help regulate water flow. This drainage system prevents overflowing during a storm, helping keep Ladera Ranch safe and prepared for run-off. It is part of Ladera Ranch's effort to be mindful of its surroundings and lessen the impact of urban run-off to the ocean. The 2.4 mile long riverine begins across from Town Green Park, runs through the middle of Ladera Ranch, and ends at the Horno Creek Water Quality Basin, where the naturally filtered water is collected and continues to the ocean. Sienna Botanica has won numerous awards for its engineering, design and use of conservation.
