Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuge in Mississippi was established in 2004 as part of the Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Although a proposed acquisition boundary has been identified near Onward, the land exchanges needed to create the refuge have not been completed. Because those exchanges remain unfinished, the refuge has not opened for public use.
